Friday's Reveal and What's Next!?

Hi everyone! 

We are nearing the end of week 2 of the campaign, but I can't stress enough how we've saved the BEST FOR THE LAST WEEK! We have so much planned, so be sure to stop by each day for the reveals that will include new scenarios, new cosmetic components, and even a brand new very affordable deluxe pledge level, or even go ala carte and pick which new items we'll have available as add-ons :)  !!

We  CAN NOT wait to share more!! 

For today we have one final new artwork to reveal so let's get to it! 

Oshra has the spiciest tea of all. It is said to burn off tongues and set houses on fire. Also, it might cause memory loss and uncontrolled behavior. For all these reasons, there is a strict law on the maximum spiciness of tea, a law that is rarely observed.

In the story of Almost Innocent, you can take two paths. They impact the game's end and the challenges you face. Although the basic story is laid out, it is not yet settled how well-behaved our heroes will be. Will they cooperate with law enforcement or try to sneak, lie and bribe their way out of difficult situations?

We have set up 6 questions in this short Google Form where YOU can decide, what the heroes will be doing! But choose carefully, as your decision will end up in the storybook.

New Location Revealed: The Fishy Bakery

Hi everyone!

We reached over $50,000 in funding last night and we are shouting it from the rooftops!! Thank you all so so much. I'm going to keep repeating myself in these updates saying thank you, but that's because we really mean it.  But enough of that, let's get to the reveal! 

 This special bakery is located in the harbor district and smells an awful lot like rotten fish. Some say it’s their special frog pie, others claim there is fishy business going on in the back...

Crime Revealed & A Special Story Update

Hello everyone!

It's a new day and a new reveal!  This time a new crime has been discovered in Oshra: Premature Burial. 

No one is ever murdered in Oshra. However, some people meet the ground a little before their time. With some extra convincing, of course! Will you be able to solve this horrendous crime and save a citizen of Oshra from a much too earthly fate?

In today's special update we will take a closer look at the backstory of the fun, quirky and shady characters that you meet in Almost Innocent and answer the question: Who is your favorite?

The Emerald Bandits & The Upright Citizens of Oshra

The Oshra unified dictionary defines a "crime" as "A single act or series of acts disapproved by the powerful". In this sense, the Emerald Bandits are the worst criminals of all. They are in a constant struggle with the Oshra city guard and are competing with them over the citizens' security donations.

The Emerald Bandits have taken up business shortly after the infamous logging of the Red Forest. They first began by collecting road and bridge tolls (without a royal permit, of course) and soon expanded their field of business into the capital. Although it is clear to anyone except for the city guard that they are up to no good, they are cunning enough to not get caught and are masters of putting the blame on others. In the story of Almost Innocent, you may not only prove your innocence but you can also decide to track down the bandits and their rumored leader.

The victims of these horrendous crimes are the upright citizens of Oshra. They regularly pay their security donations straight to the royal treasury. For this reason, crimes against these reputable scholars, wealthy aristocrats, and well-served veterans are almost an affront to the state itself! You must help to find the true offenders if you don't want to be framed for these crimes.

Voting Results

In our last update, we asked you for some character names and you came up with some hilarious names like Mousy Miscreant, Hasty Hexer, or Sir Hops'alot. But who are the most popular characters in the game?

Among the bandits, it was a very close race between the Mouse, the Bear, and the Crocodile. By only 2.1% the Crooked Crocodile won the title of "most popular villain". Among the victims, no one stood a chance against your favorite Carrot Keeper. In any case, we will make sure that your favorites get the additional spotlight in the story! Yet who of these two would win if they are put against each other? Let's find out on Instagram and Twitter. Check out our current Twitter poll and Instagram story and vote in support of your champion.

An incredible Week of Reveals!

Hello everyone! 

1090+ BACKERS?! We are blown away at the support Almost Innocent has received, thank you all so so much for believing in our project, and we cannot wait till it ships to you all! 

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Thank you for being patient with us taking off yesterday for the holiday, it was great being able to spend that time with our family and friends!  We've been excited to get back to this campaign though so let's get started with a look at the week ahead including more gameplay elements!

#4 REVEAL - SPOT UV ON THE BOX!

We're adding Spot UV to the box to really allow those beautiful colors and stunning artwork by Satoshi Matsuura to shine! 

#5 REVEAL - INSIDE BOX ART!  

To give the game an extra special touch we're working on some inside box art as a direct exclusive to Kickstarter backers! We'll have the official reveal in a later update but for now, check out the concept art above! 

Over the course of this campaign, we'll be including interview questions and answers provided by the designer of Almost Innocent: Philippe Attali! Our first question is just perfect for this update, and if you guys have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments, we'll do our best to have Philippe answer them! :)

Do you have any tips for anyone who might want to start designing their own board games?

The basic advice and design I have for any designer would be to make sure the mechanics are as clear as possible. You really don't have to worry about the visual aspect at first. Then, you have to get closer to associations of players and/or game creators to confront your prototype with reality. Sometimes it's hard to hear remarks. It may be discouraging but it is on the contrary an opportunity. It is thanks to the many feedbacks on the multiple test games with different groups of players that I have greatly improved the way people have to communicate their clues in Almost Innocent. To give you an idea, with my wife alone, more than 150 test games have been played over 4 years!

Avez-vous des conseils pour tous ceux qui pourraient vouloir commencer à concevoir leurs propres jeux de société ?

Le conseil de base et de concevoir son jeu de manière que la mécanique soit le plus lisible possible. Il ne faut vraiment pas se soucier de l’aspect visuel dans un premier temps. Ensuite, il faut se rapprocher d’associations de joueurs et / ou de créateurs de jeux pour confronter son prototype à la réalité. C’est parfois difficile d’entendre des remarques. Ça peut décourager mais c’est au contraire une chance. C’est grâce aux nombreux retours sur les multiples parties tests auprès de différents groupes de joueurs que j’ai grandement amélioré la façon dont les personnes doivent communiquer leurs indices dans Almost Innocent. Pour vous donner une idée, rien qu’avec ma femme, c’est plus de 150 parties tests qui pont été jouées sur 4 ans !

Hello everyone! 

900 BACKERS?! We can't believe it! Thank you all SO much for believing in Almost Innocent.  We hope these daily reveals are as fun for you all as they are for us. Because you all are Kickstarter backers, every reveal over the next 15 days will become part of your pledge!  So let's get to today's reveal, shall we?

This Dwarf Major has recently become a victim of outrageous crimes! Will you avenge him? As foreigners to the island, the dwarfs rarely join the army of Oshra. However, this former mercenary captain has decided to skip all the battles and now lives by the citizens’ security donations.

Be sure to stop by next TUESDAY for a double reveal as our U.S. team will be out of the office on Monday for Labor Day.  We hope you all have a beautiful and safe holiday weekend!
